Anthony Ungerman Boca Raton FL Obituary: Avalara Deputy CSO Anthony Ungerman has died
Anthony Ungerman, 60, of Boca Raton, Florida, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 16, 2025. Born in Dallas, Texas, to Nancy and Jay Ungerman, Anthony was surrounded from the start by a loving family.
He grew up with two older sisters, Carrie and Leslie, a younger brother, Garin, and a large extended family of aunts, uncles, and cousins who were like siblings. Family was at the center of Anthony’s life, and he cherished every moment with them, celebrating milestones and, most recently, his last birthday surrounded by loved ones.
In his mid-20s, Anthony moved to Miami, Florida, where he met his neighbor and lifelong love, Marisa. Together, they built a life full of love, laughter, and shared adventures, raising three remarkable daughters—Katya, Bianca, and Sabrina—and welcoming grandchildren into the family.
Anthony’s pride in his family was boundless, and he often reflected on the joy and fulfillment they brought him. Anthony’s lifelong passion for technology began with his first computer, gifted for his Bar Mitzvah in 1978, and led to a career in software engineering, cybersecurity, and, more recently, artificial intelligence.
He earned numerous patents, mentoring others and championing underrepresented groups in technology, including women in computer science and LGBTQ+ rights, especially trans rights. Anthony’s brilliance was always paired with generosity and humility—he made every effort to help others succeed.
Outside of work, Anthony loved Billy Joel, chess, poker, the Dallas Cowboys, video games, reading, and sharing meals with his wife and cats. Known for his humor, intelligence, and compassion, he leaves a legacy of love, innovation, and dedication that will continue to inspire all who knew him.
Anthony is survived by his wife, Marisa; daughters Katya (and husband), Bianca (and Conor), and Sabrina; grandchildren; parents, Nancy and Jay; and siblings, Carrie, Leslie, and Garin.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, December 21, 2025, at Glick Family Funeral Home, 9:00 AM, with shiva to follow at Woodfield Country Club, Boca Raton.
