Hayley Ackerman Snowmobile Accident: Winneconne Police Department officer Hayley Ackerman has died
Hayley Renee Ackerman, 33, of Fremont, passed away on Saturday, December 13, 2025, following a snowmobile accident. Born on September 1, 1992, to James Ackerman and Robin Powell, Hayley was deeply loved by her family, friends, and community.
A 2011 graduate of Neenah High School, Hayley pursued her passion for animals and science, studying equine science at Ellsworth Community College and later earning an Associate Degree in Forensic Science with honors from Fox Valley Technical College in December 2024.
She began her career in public service as a community service officer with the Appleton Police Department before becoming a sworn officer with the Winneconne Police Department, aspiring to join the K9 unit.
Her love for animals extended into her personal life, where she worked as a receptionist at Walker Family Veterinary Clinic in New London and cared deeply for her beloved pets, including her Australian Cattle Dog, Mya, three cats, and two horses.
Hayley’s passions extended beyond her professional life. She was a devoted Pittsburgh Steelers fan, a competitive video gamer, and a skilled aerialist, performing with Aerial Dance for many years. In her youth, she played soccer, rode horses competitively through 4H, and, alongside her father, proudly owned HR Stables in Hortonville.
She is survived by her father, Jim Ackerman, and his partner Karen Lind; her mother, Robin Powell, and her husband Jason Johnson; her boyfriend, Dustin Sommer; her grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless friends.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, December 21, 2025, from 1:00–4:00 PM at Westgor Funeral Home in Neenah, with a memorial service following at 4:00 PM. Her family extends heartfelt gratitude to first responders, medical personnel, and all who tried to save her life, offering comfort and support during this tragic loss. Hayley’s courage, kindness, and love for life and animals will be remembered forever.
